Make Kanye Great Again

So I was watching a clip of the interview Kanye West had with TMZ. He spoke about a few things, one being that we as a country should approach President Trump with a more respectful manner, hoping to receive the same in return. That is debatable, considering what type of behavior Trump has demonstrated over the last few decades, let alone his presidency. That's not why I'm posting this. We can talk all day about the foulness of our politics and the outrageous outbursts we witness in relation to celebrities, but let's focus on the real issue--Kanye. It's easy to say that Kanye maybe in his current state due to the death of his mother back in 2007. I'm certain that was a devastating time for him. Processing the passing of a loved one isn't always the easiest experience. Kanye was dealing with that as well as maintaining his music career. That's a heavy load. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which could explain the inconceivable conversations he's had concerning his interaction the public. Many of us say, I miss the old Kanye. It's not just a reference to his music, but also to who he was as a person. The problem is that Kanye isn't the same Kanye we met with the fresh fractured jaw and a hit freshman album. He's changed, evolved. Why expect the same if you yourself change overtime?

Kanye can be seen recently wearing the "Make America Great Again" hat that's been circulating since Trump entered office. That is the slogan he led by, gaining the election win for the Republican party. Kanye is also sporting his own clothing line, which many may be a fan of, but others find to be distasteful. He's speaking on energy transfusion and his place in the universe. You're probably waiting for him to say the world is flat, having no idea from which direction he's coming when asked a question about how he's living his life in 2018. There's great ease in seeing someone where they are, comparing them to where they use to be and wishing for the latter. Honestly, I don't wish to be the same person I was ten years ago, or even 5! I was very naive to a lot of things, especially when it came to adult-ing. There's no way I wish to relive that part of my life. It was painful, yet I wouldn't be where I am if it wasn't for the initial pruning. Maybe that's what Kanye is undergoing at the moment. He's still growing. He's a husband, parent, artist and a key individual to our modern culture. He has a platform and he's using it while dealing with the state of his mental wellness. Try wearing all those hats and see how functional you will be.

My first response was that Kanye is preparing to drop an album and he needs all the attention he can gather. I then considered that maybe he's reacting from the life he lives with the Kardashians and the reputation they hold, causing outsiders wishing to come in to go in exile due to God knows what. Nobody knows, but Kanye and God. I think we should leave it up to them to figure things out while we continue to guide Kanye down the river he finds himself flowing down and stay afloat. We can't change Kanye's condition, but we can help him get through it. Isn't that what we do with the people we love? What if something happens and it's evident that someone isn't going to change anytime soon? The question should be, what now? There's a quote that says 10% of life is what happens to you and 90% is how you react to it. That 10% has happened to Kanye and is continuing. How are we going to use that 90% for not just Kanye, but everyone else in that same position?

Let's make Kanye great again. It's hard to deny his level of creativity. He's a talented artist that has an ability not many people have. He also has an opportunity to speak to our younger generation as well as those that came before them. I hope that we have patience with him as we express our concerns and perspectives because it's difficult to see the wrong in what you do when your brain is convincing you that it's permissible. Let's continue to dissect the dialogue we have with each other so that we can gain a better understanding before completely disregarding the betterment of an individual. Kanye is not the same as the one in "Gold Digger", "All Falls Down", "Jesus Walks" or standing next to Mike Myers, discussing the effects of hurricane Katrina. If anything, Kanye is in a whirlwind of emotions and ideas and this is a combination of them all. He's probably caused much destruction, but lets focus on how we're going to rebuild and regroup, for he's going to need some help as he continues to navigate along his path. He appears to be on some type of God-like status, but let's remind him that only one exists and has the ability hold all the weight he assumes he has to carry alone.
