The Boomerang Effect

The death of Chadwick Boseman was devastating. It hit differently than Kobe's. Kobe's death felt like a dagger to the heart...with a twist. Chadwick's felt like a gunshot womb that leaves you dying in the street at night. It's lingering, making you think of what you should have done to make your now better than it could have been. He was a great influence. I thank him for his dedication and discipline. I thank him for his kind words of inspiration and hope. He was a light to our community and world. Rest in Power, King T'Challa. My prayers to your wife and family as they deal with your departure.

The Boomerang Effect

Captain America throws his shield.
Because of science and mathematics,
it hits the face of his opponent
and an adjacent wall before returning back to his arm.

Thor throws his hammer.
Because of power and worthiness ,
it breaks anything , resists momentum,
and submits to his hand.

God throws Chadwick Boseman into the world.
Because of will and calling ,
he convinces us we ,too , can move crowds ,
Make us shine outside of coffins  and orange jumpsuits.

Science and mathematics couldn’t keep him
from walking the ancestral plane,
stop him from taking his place among kings
robed in mistakes , but purified in wisdom.
he doesn’t return to us,
but to the father who made him.
