No More Punks

I’m usually so focused on what I want opposed to what God wants for me , for what He desires ...is far greater , far more fulfilling. Immediacy is what we crave , what we live for . So often we overlook the now, the most certain, for tomorrow is an idea or a storm that may or may not pass over. We want first dibs ... on first dibs . We want our deepest compulsions melted in the lines of our hands, spilling over into a lavishing dish of bliss, overlooking the poison it may possess. Waiting is a grownup game you can win if you can convince the child inside to comply with the rules. It’s easy  to maneuver through life with a narcissistic core, seeking no one’s benefit, but your own. Once you consider everyone else, the picture enhances, making more room for possibilities. Not everyone will eat from your table. That doesn't overshadow the plate you are able to offer. They may not apply or accept, but they will be aware. 

We believe what we strive for will ultimately place us in line for our just success. We assume we deserve what we purchased with time , sweat, blood , and integrity. We push away people who won’t expedite the process. We discard opportunities weak in pay , but strong in opportunity. We waste our worries on brittle likelihood, always fretting about what could go wrong . What about...what can go right ? What can be perfect , what can be riveting , marvelous, stupendous...if we just wait? Is tarrying in the process so horrible , so threatening? What if what you always dreamed of acquiring awaits on the other side of yourself ? Yes, you. You...are standing in the way of your best self. You are standing in the way of providing for others. You have something worth sharing, worth distribution in a crowd of other qualified talents. 

Don't remove yourself from the presence of greatness. If you find yourself there, it means you belong. It doesn't matter if you're passing through or planted in permanence. Use your voice. Use your strengths. Use your gift. It will be ugly to some, pretty to many, or the opposite. Prediction is vague, open for variations, but your decision to start doing for you is something to grab and hold tight. It's in your control. You're stronger than others think you're not. You're smarter than others think you will ever be. If you know what you want, go after it. Nothing you desire is easy because it requires leaving something behind. That something can be the old you or a close friend. Either way, something's getting thrown off the train because this locomotive is headed towards the unknown with great trust in the conductor, great trust in the one who told you to go. Be bold and say no to your fear and yes to your ferocity. We talk ourselves out of many things. Let's not pass up the chance to pursue a different path; one we actually like.
