Your Art, His Glory

Think about this for a second. Say that you're a talented painter. Say that you are a gifted songwriter, vocalist,  craftsman, teacher, orator, or even dancer. You take what you have, refine it until it's undeniably brilliant and beautiful. You place it on a platform. It can be a large, white canvas, behind the podium of a college classroom, a spot on the radio station, or center stage at a sold out theater with a light beaming on your glorious performance. What if the one person you wanted to hear and see you during one of the most important instances in your life wasn't there to hear it or actually was and refused to receive what you were giving? What if they told you that it wasn't for them? It would break your heart, for lack of alternative phrase. All your hard work, dedication, precious time spent on making sure that what you did well was neatly and precisely handed over to a specific audience, gift-wrapped in quality. Maybe you wanted a reaction from them, a simple nod to stamp your work with approval. Let you know that what you did wasn't done in vain. What do you do if you don't acquire that? This could happen once, a few times, or every time. This reaction could possibly be the effect of every finished product you push forward. Do you stop, put aside your gift for a while, or even worst..bury it. The problem isn't always the people or even the performance. The resistance lies in the wrong purpose behind it.

We were all made to glorify His name. We were produced to reflect His honor and power, His majestic presence and all-knowing, all-loving splendor is to be filtered through our words and actions at full capacity. This was our initial purpose until the fall, until we stepped in between God and our spirit. God gave us special abilities, each of us. Some came in our hands, our words, ours eyes. He's given some us the ability to see things beyond man's restriction, have access into the spirit realm, do such things as Jesus did, maybe even more (John 14:12). This is why I'm so into superheroes. I think of all the abilities from  having magnetism over metal to control over kinetic energy, using it at will. The fun part, the truth, is that we have abilities, too. The only thing is that ours are greater, for they can initiate spiritual change in the real world. Saving souls is not our responsibility. That is for the Lord, but granting them opportunities to see just how mighty He is through ourselves can be achieved by us. The people. God wants us to direct others back to Him. He wants us to reestablish the alignment. The way it was intended. The devil is growing an army, eager to place man and woman back where they were every since the fruit was disobediently eaten. He wants to divide our attention. He wants to divide us...period.

Think about this next time you get out your paint brushes, turn on a microphone, type up a lesson plan, or even prep a bed for a new patient. Think about it before you write those lyrics, words that will touch the ears of everyone who listens, especially the children. You are using what God gave you to relay a message, the truth about who and what He is. There are people who will deny it, refuse it with every intention of making sure you never make another attempt. There may be hundreds or thousands of rejections to your art, your craft, your natural talent, but it's not up to man to determine it's function. That is solely up to your creator, the giver of your light. Think about it--if He gave it to you, wouldn't you think He'll supply you with the opportunities to exercise them? Don't depend on man for exposure. Trust in Him. God has a way of using locked windows as the doorway to a much bigger room than you've ever imagined. Even if what you do touches one out of million, that means that God placed the odds in your favor, despite the numbers. Isn't that awesome? There are countless possibilities in God's name. All you have to do is trust Him to trust you with your gift that He made. You can' go wrong, my friend.
