The Set Up

I'm certain many of you are, but are you familiar with the basketball term alley-oop? Well, here's a YouTube link to give you an idea just in case this is foreign to you (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cylFQ7-K2IE). The two players involved are two of the most gifted athletes I've seen bless the hardwood. When it comes to a feat such as this, you need two things: someone to throw and someone to catch. Blake Griffin, in this case, is the catcher. Jamal Crawford is the one throwing. He's setting up Blake to create one of the most sensationalized plays in NBA history. It's the beautiful connection between two players who agree on one thing--scoring when no one's paying attention. Traditionally, the player at the top of the three point line spots a teammate cutting towards the basket, catching the team off guard as he tosses it up for him to catch and slam it home. This video shows how versatile it can be. This play also calls for great timing and confidence in each other's ability. All factors create an awesome blend of ingenuity and excitement.

Imagine God being the player bringing the ball up court. He sees where you need to be in order for Him to throw you the ball, perfect timing, so that you can throw it down! Never mind the coach, the audience, and other ball players. This moment is between you and Him. You both connect eyes. You, the catcher, point your finger towards the rim. God grins, passing the ball at a perfect angle and height, knowing that you are able to receive it. That's how He dishes our blessings. He's waiting for the perfect moment to catch the enemy off guard. This doesn't mean that the opposition won't attempt to contest it. Oh, he will! The beauty is the execution of the play that pretty much works every time. If you ever look at any other clips of the alley-oop, always notice how frozen the opposing team appears.

God is setting you up right now for one of many alley-oops. Your part is to be synchronized with God's mindset. Notice how he eyes the defense. Keep an eye on His timing, not man's. God will always catch your nemesis not looking. He sees all, knows all. The biggest surprise is felt by the onlookers, wondering, how did they do that?  Well, continue to connect with God and you're alley-oop will never go disturbed. Now, when God starts throwing it off the backboard, juggling between the legs or even bouncing it off the floor, then you both are just showing off lol. He's capable of anything. Always keep  in mind that God has so much faith in you. If he didn't, He would never throw it your way. He knows His children just like Crawford knew Griffin. Adhering to God's direction is always a slam dunk, even if you feel that you're losing because it changes the momentum of the game. You can be down 20 points, but at that point, you become an immediate threat.
