What Kind of Man Are You?

This is one of a  few questions that I've written on my dry erase board and that i repeat to myself daily. It allows me to challenge my everyday activity and become the man that God has destined me to be. So, what kind of man are YOU? Are you the type that stands in the face of danger, or do yours turn away, and run in the opposite directon? Do you accept defeat in the hands of the world, or claim victory while the world craddles in the hand of God? I read a quote at Target on a Martin Luther King picture frame that said:  "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy". Wow, talking about great alliteration. We all have the potential to be great men, we just have to challenge ourselves. Society has convinced men that he's measured by money and power. Yes, these are effects of being a well rounded man, but not the cause. In my opinion, a rich man with good credit who owns several businesses, a gorgeous house, tons of cars, and a beautiful wife is just as much as a man as a low-budget Stocker at a grocery store with two kids who pays all his bills on time. It's all about responsibility. If a man cannot take responsibility for his own actions/doings and believe in progress,  setting an example by being a light to others, then he is not a man. The beard on your face, the hair on your chest, and the money packed into your bank account does not boost your manhood. If anything, humbling yourself before God and allowing him to work THROUGH you instead of just AROUND you (because then, you'll be missing out on blessings others recieve that are available for you as well) makes you  not just any man, but THE man. There's a huge difference between being A man and THE man. One's objective, the other's subjective. One's in general, and the other's personal. That's what God want's to do to us-make things personal.  You can allow that to happen by digging into his word as he  lights your path. We get afraid sometimes, but what man doesn't? I'm pretty sure MLK was scared, even after the life of his family was threatened because of his Godly protesting, but he PROGRESSED , realizing that he was answering to a higher power. When you get a chance, ask yourself what kind of man are you and if you can't find an answer, just remember this: you are a child of God. Therefore, you are priviledged beyound your limits and through him, man has no hold on you (just read the famous quote by Marianne Williamson). Maximize your potential, gentlemen, and become the best man God has intended for you to be.
