Not Yet

Have you ever found yourself desperately wanting something that somebody else had? You notice how happy it makes them and you want to obtain the same amount of pleasure; reach the same level of excitement and fulfilment that's displayed on their faces because at that moment, you assume that everything in their life is perfect. The thing is that even though they maybe smiling and enjoying something that they were blessed with, you have no idea how unhappy they were before things begin to get better. You look at music artists like Common, Monica, Isaac Carree, Deitrick Haddon, and many others who appear to be doing well, but they once were in dark places; somewhere the  shadows  of their dreams collected their nightmares and begin to eat away at their souls. It came a point where they were tired of being hurt, tired of crying, and tired of losing touch with what's most important-relationships. I don't mean courting relationships specifically, but of all kind (God, friendship, family, spouse, work, etc.). If you are experiencing something yourself, yet you want your problems instantly fixed so that you can be just as happy as the next person, you will never be as strong as you can be without the occasional struggle. Runners who started running for the first time were usually tired after a minute or two because their bodies weren't use to it. Their wind would shorten and their muscles would become weak, sending instant messages to the brain to inform the body to quit! But if you find yourself being diligent with practice, pushing aside those limitations as well as mental obstacles that try to encourage you to accept your weakness, your running time will increase , and your body will become stronger. Remember, before you can become fixed, you have to be broken and that applies to your relationship with God, your physical performance, and every other aspect of your life.  Yes, your friends maybe in what appears to be a great relationship, but unless you were there during the hardships, the yelling, and the fighting, you would never understand how steep the mountain was they had to climb in order to get to the top. God hears your desires. You have to remember that what you want has to be aligned with what He wants for you, thus becoming relevant to what is expected of you as a human being. Just because He doesn't give you EXACTLY what you want doesn't  mean He doesn't seek after your happiness, He just wants what's best for you...which goes for another thing-DON'T SETTLE! We find ourselves succumbing to this mistake repeatedly until it becomes a pattern. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action, yet expecting  different results every single time. It's time to do something new, don't you think? So, if you're asking God for something in particular and you wake up the next morning and nothing has changed, it's because He's either said, "Not Yet" or "I have something much, MUCH better". Continue to wait on Him and do your part by adhering to His will and your God-given duty as a man/woman. Remember, He loves you so much that He's willing to face and destroy that which is ugly, hideous, and destructive towards your soul so that there is room for something beautiful, nourishing, and joyful. Just wait...you'll see.
